Bikash Food Products, a project of PBK, was piloted in 1993 in Pakundia Upazila with an initial capital of tk.400 Thousand from Canada Fund from Canadian High Commission Dhaka and some additional food aid from IIRD. PBK erected a warehouse with a capacity of 350 metric tons. IIRD also provided financial support to construct this modern warehouse. PBK open a bakery with initial employment for 10 hardcore poor women. By carefully adopting to the local need and ensuring quality product, the bakery has managed to report net profit from only the 2nd year of operation. In response to a gradually expending market, PBK has started its 2nd food unit in BSCIC plot in Kishoregonj with exploring options for the ownership structure of both units by the employee & workers.
